Collection for the visually and hearing impaired

The Moravian-Silesian Research Library in Ostrava, contributory organization started to build the special collection for the visually and hearing impaired in 2007. It is available in the department of special collections (the left wing of town hall).

We notify our users that some types of documents are available only to special certificate holders (a medical cerificate from an ophthalmologist or otologist, a membership card of a disability organisation, etc.).

Opening hours of the department:

Monday - Friday: 9.00-18.00
(the library is closed from 12.00 every first Thursday in month)
In case of need, please use the doorbell to call our staff. The bell is placed on the left side of the entrance door.

COLLECTION FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED:

• audiobooks
• relief maps
• books in Braille
• sound recordings of films

COLLECTION FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED:

• DVDs with Czech films (Golden Collection of Czech Films) - special subtitles for the deaf
• CD-ROMs with sign language

Our library collections were also enhanced with the professional literature dealing with this topic.
